Frequently Asked Questions

Permanent Makeup FAQS

  • What are some things I need to consider before making a permanent makeup appointment?

    • If you are unsure which PMU technique is right for you, set-up a permanent makeup consultation to go over all of your options and assess your needs.

    • If you have sensitive skin or are allergic to anything, be sure to ask your artist about the products being used and possibly to spot test beforehand.

    • If you use retinol, chemical peels, Botox, or take Accutane, please consult with us and do your research beforehand because these products may make your skin more sensitive and disrupt the results.

    • If you are breast feeding, please wait until you are done before any permanent makeup appointment.

    • If you wear contacts, please do not wear them to any appointment for the eye area (excluding brows).

    • If you have any history of cold sores, please consult with your Dr. and get a prescription for an antiviral oral medication. This must be taken for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after any lip blushing service to avoid an outbreak.

  • Is permanent makeup painful?

Most clients find these procedures pretty comfortable. A 5% topical lidocaine cream is used to numb the area before and during each procedure.

  • What is the permanent makeup healing process like?

The healing process for each cosmetic tattoo is a full 2 weeks after the procedure is complete. The most important thing to do is keep the area clean and dry to avoid the possibility of infection. Avoiding the sun, saunas, steam rooms, swimming and heavy exercise during these 2 weeks is essential for the best possible healed results. Your artist will go over all aftercare with you at your appointment.

  • How long will my permanent makeup last?

The longevity of your tattoo is different for each individual and is based on skin type and lifestyle.

  • How do I choose the technique, shape and color of my brows?

These decisions are made together with both the suggestion of the artist and the desire of the client. Techniques are explained and decided on based on the client's skin type and desired result. Shape is mapped out on the clients face using special measuring tools to accentuate the face shape and bone structure. Color samples are applied to the skin to choose proper tone. Each of these decisions are approved by the client before anything permanent begins.

  • What will I look like immediately after my permanent makeup procedure?

You may be a little swollen, red and sometimes a bit white.  This is all very normal and will subside over the next 24 hours.

  • What if I don’t like it?

Although the procedure is considered permanent, these procedures do have flexibility in changing color and shape to some extent.  Colors will appear much darker immediately following the procedure but will often soften and lighten during the healing process. The healing time is different for each individual and remember it takes time to adjust to a new look!

  • Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding.  This will depend on the client.  If a person is taking blood thinners on a daily basis, then some slight bleeding may occur.  Bruising is rare but if a person is on blood thinners, then bruising can occur.  There is usually some tenderness for a few days.  The color appears much darker than you may expect for the first six to ten days.

  • Will my permanent makeup fade over time?

Your body’s skin changes over time and so will any permanent makeup coloration implanted in to the skins layers.  However, this natural fading process takes years and touch ups are easily done as your color fades over time. Once your color does fade, you will make your touch up appointment which will freshen up the faded color.

Waxing FAQs

  • Will my hair grow back thinner?

As the hair is pulled from the roots, this reduces hair growth. It varies from person to person, but even though your hair will grow back less, it may not necessarily be thinner. You’ll just have less of it.

  • Does waxing hurt?

Firstly, it depends on where you’re getting a wax done. If you’re getting an intimate wax done, then you will experience some pain undoubtedly, but even with this, some parts are less sensitive than others. Plus, the first time is the worst, so if you get it done every 3-6 weeks when the hair is waxable again, the pain lessens.

  • How often should I get a wax done?

It depends on how fast your hair is growing but on average we would recommend getting waxed every 4 weeks. This is usually the right amount of time to have the hair at the right length, and will also allow the skin to be less sensitive to treatments. For our female clients: we recommend avoiding treatment around that time of the month: your skin will be more sensitive 5 days before and after. Although it is not necessary to avoid this time of month for your waxing, it's just a suggestion for your own comfort.

  • Can I use a sunbed or tan outside once my wax is done?

Beware of the sun, as we advise that during the 24-hour window after a wax done to not go out into the sun. This is because the skin is more exposed and less protected. As for sunbeds, it’s usually advised that these are avoided for at least one week before and after your waxing appointment.  The skin tends to contain heat from the UV light which can cause the skin to peel or lift. In turn, this can irritate the skin during or after the wax.

  • How can I prevent being embarrassed during an intimate wax?

It’s understandable that there will be a little embarrassment, especially for a first-timer as you may feel slightly uncomfortable being so exposed. Rest assured, we have seen it all and, like a doctor or nurse, it’s our job! After a few minutes you will feel more comfortable and at ease. Don't let this fear stop you from getting waxed!

  • Is sex ok the same day that I get waxed?

We know you want to show off that smooth new wax right away, but we usually advise at least 24 hours before bodily contact, as the friction can aggravate the skin.

  • Can I shave between treatments?

Resist the urge to pick up the razor! We strongly advise not shaving after having a wax done. Shaving promotes ingrown hairs and skin abrasions hence it counteracts all of the wonders that the wax does for your skin. Plus, shaving makes your skin more sensitive, which will only make your next wax more painful.

  • Can I get an intimate wax if I am pregnant?

Yes, most definitely! Just let us know so that we are aware.

Lash Lift FAQs

  • What is a Lash Lift?

The lash lift procedure has revolutionized old, inadequate perming techniques. Using silicone pads instead of perm rods, this new technique can lift, straighten or curl, and lengthen your own natural lashes to create a brighter, fuller, wide-eyed look. No need for extensions and the associated aftercare, this will last you 6-8 weeks and can be combined with a tint to leave the mascara behind.

  • Does the Lash Lift procedure hurt?

No, the procedure is totally painless.  You will have your eyes closed for the entire treatment and although it may feel a little strange being unable to open your eyes for this time, it offers you a chance to relax during the treatment.

  • Is the procedure safe?

Yes. Lashes are lifted onto our specially shaped lifting pads before products are applied.

  • Will the Lash Lift damage my natural lashes??

No. Select a carefully trained and skilled Professional to ensure proper Lash Lift procedures are followed

  • How long will a Lash Lift last?

A Lash Lift can last 6-8 weeks but can vary from person to person.  There is no need for any maintenance appointments in between but you will need to have the process repeated every 6-8 weeks to lift the new hair growth. There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products or heat.  If you find that your lift does not last the full 2 months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of 4 weeks of having the initial treatment, but not before.

  • Can I wear makeup after my lash lift?

Yes, but it is advised that you leave your lashes untouched for at least 24 hours after your treatment. You may find that there is no need for mascara anyway, but if you wish to make your lashes even fuller, a non-waterproof mascara is advised as the removal of waterproof mascaras can be harsh on the lashes and weaken the lift.

  • How do I clean my eyes?

Gently, using mild products. Always wait 24 hours after the procedure to cleanse.

  • How often can I have a lash lift?

A lash lift will begin to naturally drop after about 2 months and your lashes will be back to their natural look. The lashes should drop evenly and will not look out of place. You can repeat the treatment after a minimum of one month if you feel you need to, or you can wait until they are back to their natural state.

  • I wear contact lenses; can I have this procedure?

Yes. However, we will ask you to remove them temporarily during the treatment as the eyes will be closed throughout.

Dermaplane FAQs

  • What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive, pain free skin rejuvenation treatment that promotes radiant, glowing skin by removing unwanted dead skin cells and vellus facial hair. Dermaplaning results are immediate and provide a terrific alternative to microdermabrasion or chemical peels.

  • How does dermaplaning work?

Dermaplaning is an exfoliation method where a sterile blade is stroked along the skin at a 45-degree angle, removing the uppermost layer of dead skin cells and revealing a smoother, brighter complexion.

  • Why is dermaplaning good for skin?

Dermaplaning promotes cellular turnover and increases collagen and elastin fibers, so it is superb as an anti-aging treatment. The layer of dead skin cells and facial hair that trap dirt and bacteria are removed, allowing for better product absorption and effectiveness.

Dermaplaning smoothes, tones, tightens, and brightens skin, creating a flawless canvas for makeup application.

  • Will my hair grow back thicker after my dermaplane?

No. Dermaplaning does not interfere with the follicular structure of the hair, thus having no effect on hair growth whatsoever.

  • How often should I get dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning should be received once every 4 weeks (monthly)

  • Who should not get dermaplaning?

You should not receive dermaplaning if you are allergic to nickel, have undergone Accutane treatments within the last 6 months, have numerous raised lesions on the skin or inflamed acne.

  • IS AFTERCARE NECESSARY?

After receiving the procedure, follow the tips below:

Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for two weeks.

No heat treatment, gym, sauna, or swimming for 48 hours.

No Botox or beauty treatments on your face two weeks before or after the treatment.

No potent retinol, glycolic, or prescription products five days before or after treatment.

Mineral makeup can be worn for the first 24 hours after treatment.
